Between the ages 0-5, most children have their photo professionally taken at least once per year because they grow so quickly and their parents are aching to freeze their fleeting babyhood. But between the ages of 5-18, the sessions get farther and farther apart. The child may get an individual shot at a family session, but will mostly only show their snaggled, toothy grins in mom’s feeble attempt at a “good picture” on family vacation, or on the front porch before church on Easter Sunday. And while those iphone pics are truly slices of the child’s life, why do we neglect to take the time for true portraits of children during the bulk of their childhood?
As I’ve said before, family sessions are not my specialty, but making girls look and feel like the true beauties they are — THAT is my passion and my “why” behind these sessions. Sweet Lily spent a fun afternoon with her mom, getting pampered with professional hair and makeup (Thanks, Amanda!), and picking out the most perfect outfits to show off her personality. Showing off some sass and some smiles, Lily was such a gem to work with! I’m so thankful to have been able to sneak this session in just in time for her 13th birthday! Happy Birthday, sweet one!
